The Program: Objectives and Outcomes
The graduate, participating as a member of the nursing team:
- Utilizes a body of theoretical knowledge derived from nursing, the biological, behavioral and social sciences and other disciplines in meeting the needs of patients of varying ages and stages of development throughout the life span.
- Utilizes the nursing process with a critical thinking approach to provide individualized care.
- Manages the varied activities that are required to provide nursing care to groups of patients in a variety of settings.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, significant others and health care members to provide optimal health care.
- Utilizes teaching activities to restore and maintain health and to promote optimal functioning.
- Maintains accountability for the practice of nursing within the profession's established ethical and legal standards.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development essential to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society.
Program Goals/Outcomes
- At least seventy-five percent (75%) of students entering the program will successfully complete the program in four years.
- At least ninety percent (90%) of students completing the program will pass the NCLEX-RN examination.
- At least eighty-five percent (85%) of the graduates will obtain employment within six months following RN licensure.
- At least ninety percent (90%) of graduates will be satisfied with the education that they received as evidenced by responses on follow-up surveys.
